Oliver Twist

[amazon_link asins=’B00916521Q’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’cheerupfun-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’f119b885-b164-11e7-aa6f-37f006380a9a’]First and foremost, Charles Dickens‘ Oliver Twist may be known for introducing the Artful Dodger to the world.  Looking beneath the surface, this book (which has gone on to be a movie, an musical, and inspire other works as well) provided commentary on it’s time, and has given generations a great deal to think about.  Whether you are looking to the scenes in the workhouse where Oliver Twist was born, the apprenticeship he was sold into, and the child labor situation which was so very different at the time of this books writing, or the criminal underworld Oliver was adopted into after his escape from a job he despised, Oliver Twist is packed with content.

I for one, when I close my eyes, can hear a young actor’s voice quite distinctly in my head, asking, “Please Sir, I want some more?” to which he receives as bellowing reply, “More?  You want some MORE!”
